Take a Short Trip to The Engraved Mountain of Khao Chi Chan

Khao Chi Chan or the Buddha mountain has its origin from a mining site where Thai Army transferred stones from the mountain for the using of U-Tapao airport, which was recently an American army base during the Vietnam War. After the war, it was continued for construction purposes before it was closed down in 1976 . Later Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, Thailand’s 19th Supreme Patriach, came up with a plan to develop it to be the engraved Buddha to celebrate King Rama IX’s Golden Jubilee. Therefore, this 109 metre tall Buddha project was taken place after a numerous studies and finally situated there ever since. Nowadays, Khao Chi Chan is known as the biggest engraved Buddha in the world. Khao Chi Chan opens from 06:00 to 18:00, everyday. 

Wander Around Khao Phra Tamnak

I you already get bored of the mainstream tourist activities, then this is another interesting spot. Phra Tamnak hill or Khao Phra Tamnak (in Thai language) lies between Pattaya beach and Jomtien beach. From the top of the hill which is about 100 metres above the sea level, you can see a panoramic view of Pattaya bay. At the top of the hill, there is a temple with its 18-metre giant Buddha statue known as Phra Yai which was sculpted since Pattaya was a fisherman’s village in 1977. You can offer aims for your merit everyday and get blessings from the monks. Be sure to dress properly, get your chest and legs covered as it is a general rule to enter any temple in Thailand. The most suitable time to visit here is in the afternoon. Moreover, you can see magnificent view of sunset from the hilltop in the evening as well. 

Volunteer At Father Ray’s Foundation

For the travelers who are seeking to help others while travelling, Pattaya Orphanage is definitely the best place to go.

The oldest orphanage in Pattaya is the Father Ray’s foundation. It was founded nearly 50 years ago by an American priest named Father Ray. Originally, adopted children were born during the Vietnam War when US military settled their base in Pattaya and left their mixed-blood children behide after the war. Words soon spread out and Father Ray saw the need to establish this place as a foundation so that these children had a shelter and food. Nowadays, Father Ray Foundation adopted around 850 abused and disadvantaged children and students with disabilities. A Short Learning Trip At The Elephant Village

7. Sunbathe At Ban Amphur Beach

While most people obsess with Pattaya beach and Jomtien beach, there is another choice for ones who are searching for a beautiful and quiet beach to do sunbathing. Ban Amphur Beach with its white sand and many palm trees is a hidden gem in the further south part of Pattaya. Since it is rather considered to be a fisherman’s village, not so many tourists realise that this place is unbelievably fascinating! 8. Time to Spend Money at Thepprasith Night Market

Thepprasith Night Market, the place where any shopaholic should not miss. The night market gathers various ranges of stuff. There you can find souvenirs, outfits both first handed and second handed, accessories, and local street food. As it locates on Thepprasith road, not too far away from Pattaya city centre so you can comfortably make your way to the night market by Baht bus. After all, make sure that you are there on the right time and the right day because it is only open on the weekends. (17.00 onwards, Friday - Sunday)  Prepare your sneakers or flipflops, the market is bigger than you imagine.
